Located approximately 110 miles west of Topeka, Salina is a wheat trading center and home to Kansas Wesleyan University. Not far from the river sits this beautiful stone and wood shingle siding home. After 50 years, the original windows were succumbing to many signs the windows needed replaced including drafts and deteriorating beauty. The homeowners wanted to replace their original sliding windows to update aesthetics and improve energy efficiency.
Energy-Efficient Windows Improve Home’s Comfort
The homeowners chose Pella Lifestyle Series to replace their outdated and inefficient windows. These windows prioritize energy efficiency to keep this Salina home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer – and help reduce heating and cooling costs. With Low-E glass, a coating which is specially designed to reflect heat and keep the home comfortable, the windows also help prevent fading of the home’s carpet, furniture and window treatments.
Innovative Grilles Emulate Old Window Grilles
Maintaining the look of the 50-year-old home was important to the homeowners. As a result, they chose wood casement windows featuring Simulated-Divided-Light grilles to emulate the original windows. The innovative grilles are permanently attached to the outside of the glass to provide the look of divided-light windowpanes while maintaining exceptional energy efficiency. The similar equally divided grille pattern delivers the same look the homeowners fell in love with, but with all the benefits of new windows with aluminum cladding. Our low-maintenance aluminum cladding protects windows from the elements and resists chalking and fading.
Expert Installation by Local Window Experts
The old windows had brickmould trim around the exterior of the window. When the replacement windows were installed, it left a visible gap between the window and shingle siding. To remedy this, the expert installers from Pella trimmed out the replacement windows with Pella's aluminum frame expander in the same color as the windows. This covers the gap with a low-maintenance solution that will look beautiful for years.
The result is a look that is fresh yet mimics the look of the original windows with better energy efficiency. The homeowners are very pleased with the comfort of their home and confident they’ll never have to worry. The replacement windows are backed by the best limited lifetime warranty for wood windows.19
