Fiberglass Windows and Wood Doors for Assisted Living Remodel

Commercial Project Case Study

Golden Oaks Village of Stillwater is a senior assisted living facility in Oklahoma. When it underwent a multi-phase remodeling project, replacing the commercial windows and doors on the front of the building was part of the first phase. With a commitment to providing residents with living environments that offer both comfort and accessibility, the facility's leadership turned to Pella of Oklahoma to provide windows and doors that prioritized these factors. We recommended fiberglass windows and wood patio doors for the functionality, energy efficiency and beauty they provide.

Casement Windows Open with Minimal Effort for Seniors

Casement windows are hinged on one side and swing outward. They easily open and close with a crank that folds away when not in use or Pella’s Easy-Slide Operator that uses the same simple motion as a dimmer light switch. We recommended casement windows for the assisted living facility as they open and close with minimal effort. This is especially beneficial for senior citizens who may have limited mobility or strength. With their single-handed operation and outward opening mechanism, casement windows are very accessible for people of varying abilities. Seniors can open and close them without needing to reach or stretch, reducing the risk of strain or injury.

Patio Doors Invite Residents to Relax Outdoors

Located in the peaceful country setting of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Golden Oaks Village offers fishing ponds, paved walking trails and a woodsy landscape. Even for residents who can’t walk outside on their own, each room has a patio or balcony so seniors can still enjoy the scenery and fresh air. Our experts suggested a combination of hinged and sliding patio doors depending on the space. Most resident apartments feature a small patio area so we installed sliding patio doors that wouldn’t require additional floor space to operate. In areas with more space, the facility’s leaders opted for hinged doors that swing open and are easy for residents to operate themselves. Both types of patio doors maximize natural light and ventilation, connecting people to the outdoors and enhancing their overall living experience.

Wood and Fiberglass Products Improve Energy Efficiency

The installation of Pella's fiberglass and wood products signifies a commitment to elevating the quality of life for Golden Oaks’ residents. The new windows and doors offer excellent energy efficiency, helping to regulate indoor temperatures for more comfortable living no matter Oklahoma’s weather. Our team professionally installed the new products, ensuring a proper fit that eliminates any drafts or leaks. While more comfortable temperatures were a major benefit of this project, the replacement windows and doors also help the facility save on utility costs.

The results of this phase of the remodeling project are nothing short of stunning. The dark finish on the windows and patio doors not only lends the facility a contemporary flair but also beautifully contrasts with the brick exterior, adding visual interest and curb appeal. With improved aesthetics, functionality and energy efficiency, these windows and doors exceed expectations and enhance the lives of those living at Golden Oaks Village.
