Nestled in the Arbuckle Mountains of southern Oklahoma, the small town of Davis is home to a variety of natural beauty. A picture of “small-town America,” this community has a rural feel with an old-fashioned main street. Many of the homes in this historic area are 40-50 years old. We had the opportunity to replace the original Pella windows on this 48-year-old home.
Triple-Pane Wood Windows Improve Energy Efficiency
One of these homeowners’ biggest concerns was how hot the west-facing side of the home would get in the afternoon Oklahoma heat. To maintain more comfortable indoor temperatures, we recommended triple-pane windows that help keep the heat out and offer an added layer of insulation. As the #1 performing wood window for the combination of energy, sound and value, these Pella Lifestyle Series windows provide great long-lasting quality and energy efficiency.16
Between-the-Glass Blinds Offer Privacy
Adding both style and privacy to the home, between-the-glass blinds are a great option for these homeowners. They offer a durable long-term shade option for the sunny west-facing side of this home. The cordless operation of the between-the-glass blinds offers a safer solution for children and pets in the home. Plus, since the window fashions are tucked between the panes of glass, they are protected from dust and damage. Overall, these blinds offer a great way to improve energy efficiency by keeping the hot Oklahoma summer heat out
Brown Windows Complement Home’s Exterior
Going from a two-wide window to a three-wide window with smaller, thinner frames helps to give this window an updated look. Additionally, the choice to not include any grilles offers a clear line of sight to the beautiful property surrounding this home. The dark brown exterior aluminum cladding of the wood windows works well with the dark red exterior of the home. The replacement of the older window with these more modern touches updates the home’s curb appeal.
When we first spoke with the homeowners, they made it clear they didn’t want to drastically change the overall aesthetic of their home but they did want to increase energy efficiency. With this transformation to their home and the addition of another Pella window, we are confident that these homeowners will enjoy a more comfortable and energy-efficient living space.
