Modern Windows and Patio Doors Elevate Mad River Guesthouse

The Mad River Valley of Vermont is a popular tourist region with picturesque scenery. We met with the homeowners of a gorgeous contemporary mountain home who were looking to better connect their guesthouse with the outdoors. We suggested Pella Reserve windows and patio doors to help these homeowners enjoy their picturesque surroundings and complement the modern design.

One design requirement for this project was to further the contemporary aesthetic of the home.  Wood is a common building material in Vermont as it leans into the natural aspects of the dense forests. A major benefit of wood windows is their design versatility and customization options. In this home, the window frames are stained to match the ceiling to create a cohesive design throughout the space. Black windows and doors match the exterior color of the house while the rectangle shapes complement the straight roofline. The natural wood interior of the windows and doors, along with the adjacent soffits and flooring, create a unique connection with the surrounding forest.

We worked with McLeod and Kredell Architects as well as Brothers Building to capture the beautiful views of the Vermont mountains. We were able to achieve this with large windows strategically placed to provide gorgeous views from almost anywhere in the house. These windows span from floor to ceiling, offering a stunning outlook of the surrounding forest. The awning windows under the large picture windows open to allow fresh air in. A seamless transition to the outdoors, these windows bring year-round enjoyment with natural light filling each living area throughout the home.

Built to withstand harsh Vermont winters and sweltering summers, Pella Reserve windows and doors offer elevated design touches to this home without sacrificing quality. The exterior aluminum cladding is exceptionally durable and matches the contemporary design of this guesthouse.
