Project Details

The owners of this Fredericksburg, Virginia townhome wanted to refresh their backyard entrance while honoring the home’s traditional style. With its red brick exterior, the home needed a replacement entry door and windows that would complement the classic design and increase natural light. Our team at Pella of Virginia was enlisted to create a custom front door, transom and sidelights that match the original aesthetic of the home. We recommended Pella Reserve — Traditional to pay homage to the home’s traditional style.

Custom Front Door with Traditional Grille Pattern Enhances Classic Style

We installed a wood door with exterior aluminum cladding that protects the door from chalking and fading over time. The custom tan color complements the home’s red brick exterior beautifully. Additionally, with its unparalleled historical detailing, this wood front door with a custom transom window and sidelights made the perfect fit for the backyard entryway. Our team at Pella of Virginia helped the homeowners customize their door with a traditional grille pattern, matching the other windows throughout the home. The style of grilles enhances the classic design, bringing divided light into the home with vertical and horizontal lines. This hinged door amplifies the traditional style while staying true to its colonial character.

The original entryway blocked light, leaving the space dark and cold. By adding a customized transom window and sidelights, our team brightened the entryway, creating a welcoming space. The transom window, with its elevated placement and sunburst grille pattern, captures more sunlight throughout the day as the sun moves from east to west. The two sidelights also add more natural light, reducing the need for artificial lighting in the homeowner’s walkway.

Tan Window Replacement Adds an Abundance of Natural Light

The new tan windows at the rear of the home provides ample sunlight throughout the day. While the transom window and sidelights brighten the entryway, the large picture window adds an abundance of natural light into the living room. This added brightness enhances comfort, creating a pleasant environment for relaxation and family time.

The results of our wood door and customized window features bring the homeowners great joy. Our Pella Reserve — Traditional products maintain the traditional style while adding modern performance.
